Available Position: Senior Sea Turtle Conservation Biologist

The Senior Sea Turtle Conservation Biologist will lead Disney’s sea turtle conservation efforts in collaboration with various partners at Walt Disney World, partner conservation organizations, and local, state, and federal agencies.  The Senior Sea Turtle Conservation Biologist will be a faculty member of the University of Florida and will collaborate with faculty and graduate students at the Archie Carr Center for Sea Turtle Research at the University of Florida.  This position will be based in Orlando, Florida. This position is for five years with potential for continuing five-year renewals based on performance.
·         Lead the development and implementation of the Walt Disney World sea turtle conservation program that supports the recovery of sea turtles
·         Develop and conduct research studies to support key initiatives for sea turtle conservation efforts with an emphasis on studies that can be conducted on nesting beaches in Florida
·         Collaborate with partners to develop and provide successful public education programs that engage families in caring for sea turtles
·         Manage a diverse team that collects data on a nesting beach in Indian River County, Florida, and partner with local, state, and federal agencies
·         Provide expertise and guidance on chelonian conservation projects as needed
Desired Skills:
·         Effective leader and manager of cross-functional teams
·         Ability to effectively persuade and influence across a variety of communication styles
·         Creative thought partner to promote conservation related behavior with the public
·         Familiarity with the goals of The Conservation Measures Partnership and the use of MIRADI in strategic conservation planning
·         Experience with GIS mapping and analytical tools
Position Requirements:
·         Ph.D. and a minimum of 4 years leading a multidisciplinary conservation program for sea turtles
·         Experience in long-range conservation planning, developing annual operating plans, and budgets
·         Experience leading projects involving various stakeholders and coordinating the work of other professionals and partners
·         Experience leading and/or participating in teams with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds
·         Strong communication skills that demonstrate the ability to take complex information and make it interesting to the general public
·         Scientific publications that demonstrate leadership in the field of sea turtle conservation
